Who you are
Investors, banks and insurers
“What remains uncertain after your study?”
Your mandate
What you answer for
Funds, investment banks, insurers, carbon funds
You exist to allocate capital under risk and return constraints, and to answer for it before those who entrusted it to you. Your business is not to know a territory: it is to know what remains uncertain after having it examined, and to decide despite that residual uncertainty.
You commit amounts that bear no relation to the cost of an expert assessment. Your question is therefore never the price of the study, but what uncertainty it removes. You require independence and enforceability against third parties — and you are sensitive to the slightest suspicion of conflict of interest.
What your organisation is made of
- Agricultural investment funds and impact funds
- Investment banks and development finance institutions
- Agricultural insurers and index insurance providers
- Carbon funds and green investors
Your constraints
How your decision is actually made
This is what most providers ignore, and it is what makes assignments fail.
Who decides
An investment or credit committee, on file. You prepare, the committee rules, and its reservations are written down.
Where the money comes from
Your study budget, which bears no relation to the amount committed — which makes the price of the expert work a secondary question.
What timetable
Three to ten weeks, paced by your committees. A report that arrives after the committee is of no use.
Our role
What ODT does for you
- We check land tenure before you commit: legal status, historical footprints, overlapping rights.
- We eliminate high-risk areas through multi-criteria screening before any field deployment.
- We independently establish the actual condition of a distant asset — very high resolution imagery, drone flights, dated evidence.
- We clear a credit committee's technical reservations by building the missing part of the file.
- We quantify and document your carbon stocks to the standards buyers require.
What we will not do
- We never verify an asset whose file we structured ourselves. This rule is published and admits no exception.
- We do not conclude beyond what the data supports: a report states what it could not establish.
- We do not accept an assignment whose expected result is indicated to us in advance.
Published because it is binding on us: see what we do not do.
