Six roadmaps adopted in February 2026

Monetising our carbon and anticipating climate change

What is happening

Your situation

You own or administer a forest, a reforestation project, an exposed territory. Climate finance is interested, but it does not buy an intention: it buys a quantity measured, reported and verified against international standards. Between the two, a technical system is missing — and you do not have it.

What you risk

  • On 23 February 2026, six Congo Basin countries — Cameroon, CAR, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo — adopted strategic roadmaps for carbon markets, with World Bank support.
  • The technical needs they identify are explicit: digital MRV systems, clarification of the legal and tax framework for credits, institutional strengthening, and alignment with Articles 6.2 and 6.4 of the Paris Agreement.
  • Fixed registry fees cannot be compressed and weigh on small projects: a small-area project is structurally penalised, which is why grouped or jurisdictional approaches matter.

Our answer

What we do

We quantify and we document. Above-ground biomass inventory combining field plots, LiDAR and radar imagery to see through the canopy. Allometric modelling and spatialised reference scenarios. Construction of the measurement, reporting and verification file to the expected standards. And for states and administrations, support in setting up a national MRV system rather than one project at a time.

In the Central African context

Reference MRV costs available in the literature come almost entirely from Latin America and cannot be transposed as they stand: in the Congo Basin, the cost of reaching the plots exceeds the cost of measurement — pirogue, porterage, multi-day camps. We cost it explicitly in our proposals instead of discovering it mid-assignment.

What you receive

Deliverables

Things delivered, not intentions.

  • Carbon stock mapping and biomass inventory reports
  • Spatialised reference scenarios
  • MRV file structured for validation by a third-party body
  • Climate vulnerability maps and territorial climate plans
  • Support to building a national or jurisdictional MRV system
