Pillar 5

Climate

Your territory endures the climate. It can also draw resources from it, without promising them.

What the territory lives

Floods, droughts, landslides, eroding soils, retreating forests. Agriculture and livestock are the first hit, and communes have neither vulnerability maps nor a climate plan.

What doing nothing costs

  • Investments are placed in exposed zones without the risk having been mapped.
  • Catchment areas degrade, taking water, soils and harvests with them.
  • Climate finance goes only to territories that can measure and verify.

Our response

We integrate climate into the territorial plan: vulnerability mapping, catchment management, climate-adapted agriculture and livestock, soils, reforestation, renewable energy, circular economy. Carbon finance is described, not promised: it requires measurement, verification and a legal framework that we help to build.

What you get

  • A map of the territory’s climate vulnerabilities
  • A territorial climate plan, aligned with the communal plan
  • Reforestation, productive solar or biogas projects prepared through to the file
  • A measurement and verification system when a carbon project is contemplated

Central Africa context

Several climate funds exist, each with its own eligibility conditions. None is secured. ODT acts as structuring engineering alongside an accredited entity, not as a direct recipient.

Who operates it?

Who operates it?

Principle: operator, revenue and maintenance are secured before any investment.

A solar mini-grid, a dryer, an abattoir biogas unit, a communal forest require an operator and a revenue model before the first disbursement.

  • Licensed operator for mini-grids, within the framework set by the electricity sector regulator
  • Commune, group or cooperative for communal forests and reforestation
  • Sharing of any revenue between communes and communities, defined in writing
