Knowing what our territory is worth

“We sense our municipality is worth more than what we get from it. We cannot put a figure on it.”

What is happening

Your situation

You are a mayor, a secretary general or the head of a region. You see trucks carrying raw produce go by, young people leaving, resources that nobody has counted. When an investor or a funder asks what your territory holds, in what quantity and at what value, you have no figures to give.

What you risk

  • A territory that does not know its resources can neither plan them, nor defend them, nor convince an investor.
  • Decisions are then taken on impressions, and every project starts again from zero.
  • The value of your resources is captured elsewhere, and you do not know how much you are letting go.

Our answer

What we do

We begin by revealing. An inventory of natural resources, farming and livestock, skills, land and market flows, carried out through mapping, satellite imagery and surveys of households and businesses. We then translate that inventory into value for the territory: where it is created, where it is lost, what could be processed locally. The result is a common basis for dialogue with the council, investors and partners.

In the Central African context

The first step of our five-step method is Reveal. It does not assume that resources are plentiful: it says what they are. We rely on open data and available satellite imagery before proposing field surveys, because the cost of reaching sites often weighs more than the cost of measuring.

What you receive

Deliverables

Things delivered, not intentions.

  • Mapped atlas of the territory's assets
  • Simplified economic account: what comes in, what goes out
  • Ranked list of opportunities, with their estimated value
  • Map of available skills
  • Summary note for the municipal or regional council

Recommended first step: A discussion to choose the two or three resources to inventory first, and the data already available to start with.

Assess your situation

Your answers travel with your enquiry: the engineer who calls you back will already know your case.
